Obama Takes On the Media

What he says is true enough, and the call for eliminating nukes is very welcome.

But it's hard to imagine that this is going to help his candidacy, given how media-driven a presidential race is.

It's screwed up, to be sure-- if you don't criticize the media, you become part of the corrupt system, but if you do criticize them, they keep you from being part of the system, thus virtually dooming your chances.

Heaven forbid Obama actually said anything about 9/11.

UPDATE: Good post on Obama and the Washington establishment here from Greenwald.

Agree totally. Wouldn't it make more sense for Obama to call for something that the average voter (or potential voter) could more readily appreciate?

Wouldn't most people respond to a call to "restore and renew our manufacturing industry"? Or, how about promising to bring top business and economic leaders together to explore legislative programs to incent businesses to return jobs to the USA?

These kind of promises needn't scare Big business nor frighten the media and I think most Americans would respond favorably.

An "obama" is an alternative to HC, in name only. His campaign theme is "HOPE" - a take-off on Jesse's "Keep Hope Alive" refrain.

His politics are as Bush-lite as those of Edwards, Richardson, Dodd, and Clinton.

To many people, his appeal is that he is none of the above and that Oprah supports his candidacy.
