New 2nd Hit Videos: They're Making Them Faster and Faster, For Some Reason

Each one nonetheless, has its own idiosyncrasy. The last one I posted here was in black and white for some reason. This one has a leafy branch blowing over the scene:

I like the "high quality" mode.

Here's another new one-- but they "miss" the plane:

This also has freaking-out/overacting women, like some other videos.

Ah, this video is from Caroline Dries, from an NYU dorm. Dries is now a writer for the TV show "Smallville". More on Dries experience here. She claims to have seen the plane. Their view was fairly constricted of the scene, but it's possible they saw something briefly.

Note, if you go look at the history channel version, there is a good view of the white "elephant" plane, flying to the north, off to the east. Also note the Youtube version of the video is very distorted, with the towers looking much skinnier than they really were.

There's something kind of fakish about this-- they way she pans inside and around the room randomly and then videotapes herself getting socks out of her drawer (we don't see her put them on before she goes in the elevator?). The camera work is very shaky at times but other times more "professional". A few seconds after the tower was hit, one of the girls says there was a plane. They do have a radio or TV on, so not clear if the idea of the plane came from there.
One odd thing about the Badger Heral article-- what on earth was so unique about Dries' experience on 9/11 in the dorm that they wrote an article about her? Wouldn't there be dozens of other students with the same view who also could have videotaped the same thing?

In any case, this History channel interactive map of video views of the WTC is kind of cool.

from the second vid, a girl's voice:

"another plane just ran into the other WTC - i'm so scared no one will believe me - it was a jumbo jet!"

ha ha! as if, honey.

Wouldn't the plane have flown over their building and been very loud? They say they woke up with an explosion.

At 1:31 of the YouTube Dries video, a woman says "There's ba . . . What do we do?!?"

Has the sound been edited? Sounded like she was starting to say "there's bombs . . . "

Assuming any of this is real.

According to this article, Dries says she saw the plane. Also that her windows opened.

from Ningen's article:
"“I didn’t have time to move the camera to the next tower until the second plane collided,” Dries said. “I could see the colors on the plane, I could almost read the writing on the plane as it passed by. It was like watching the movie Pearl Harbor or something.” "

In the video, it is clearly a hand-held camera and she's focusing on the north tower. Who uses a video camera like that but focuses away from what is on the viewscreen? In my experience, it is extremely difficult to do that. And she must have been looking at the viewscreen because she pans to the explosion fairly cleanly after an initial shaking. There is something kind of fakish about the camera work here, particularly the smooth zoom control and when she starts videotaping inside the room.

To clarify, I was wondering why she did not hear a first plane, whihc would have flown over her building, and pointing to her claim to have seen a second plane. I agree with Spooked that it seems unlikely she would not have been looking through the lens finder. If she was not, why did she not see the second plane coming and comment on it? Also, if the windows opened, it seems likely she would have opened the window to film and listen.

This article is odd - it's the University of Wisconsin - Madison school paper and the article is published a day after 9/11 by an author who otherwise writes about Madison campus and city affairs. Did she happen to be in NYC or happen to know Dries, or cull the statements from the Internet? Anyway, my wondering why the author didn't interview more people doesn't make sense if she was not in NYC - plus the students would have been scattered and not in the NYU dorm.

Dries claim to have seen the color and writing on the plane doesn't make sense for the second plane, which would have been too far away and which she did not comment on as it supposedly came in.

A little after half-way through the video on the History Channel site, right after she says "?Regardless, it has to be so dangerous . . ." an object flies briefly on the screen and behind the building. It looks more like a helicopter than a plane.

Didn't notice this object yesterday and the video seems a bit different in other ways. Anyone else notice that? I could just be recalling wrong, or this could be a moving mindfuck.

Here's the author of the Badger article.

http://www.reputationpartners.com/team_boyce.html

Not surprising she is in PR - I don't read anything into that other than a typical career path. She was the editor of the paper and probably just assembled the article from info on the Internet or wires, but there is no attribution.

Thanks Ningen-- that Badger article is quite odd to me, for such an ordinary story the day after 9/11. Even if the author was lookign for a "college" angle, what about Dries story was noteworthy to ANYONE?

I find this video, which all of a sudden appears with a full story behind it, to be rather fishy.

at about 3/4ths into the trinity Church video by evan fairbanks on the "history" channel website, as they duck into the firehouse across the street from the wtc, you can hear a man on the nypd/nyfd radio chatter say "...that plane was a large bomber-style green aircraft into the second tower, be advised..."

hmm. doesn't sound like a UAL "Plane" to me...

FWIW...

Good catch, Rob. I'd be interested in seeing how many different descriptions there were of the 2nd plane. I've seen this for the Pentagon, but not as extensively for the WTC-- probably because of all the videos.
