A Radical Thought Regarding Health Care Reform

The government creates a public health care plan that provides basic "essential" health care at a low cost for everyone. Private health insurance companies create health care plans that offer more extensive coverage at an increased price. People can choose between cheap minimal coverage and more expensive maximal coverage depending upon their income and personal needs.

What a radical concept! You can see why the insurance companies would go bananas trying to prevent this from happening!

Now obviously, a lot of the devil is in the details of this "public plan", but in principle I see no reason why a cheap basic quality health care plan is a serious threat to private health insurance.

I do. GREED.

The medical profession needs more competition. More nurse practitioners, more offshored doctors coming HERE.

There is almost no need for pharmacies to have to employ Licensed Pharmacists. A robot could do just as well. So could
any high school graduate.
