Fucking Afganistan, the Never Ending War

What exactly is the US military doing in Afghanistan?
I’m hardly alone in wondering. The confusion is so widespread that opposition has bled into public indifference. After a decade and a half – six years longer than the US had troops in Vietnam – it’s just something we do. What we are doing and why is another matter. Initially, the invasion had something to do with finding those responsible for 9/11. After that, there was never a clear answer, and so people who care turn to conspiracy theory, and understandably so. Actually, Afghanistan has been on my mind much longer.
I recall when the Soviets were trying to remake the country, and we Cold-War kids reveled in their failure. That they ever attempted such a thing in this vast country of seasoned warriors and fierce tribal loyalty seemed to underscore the bankrupting arrogance of the Soviet regime and the unrealizable delusion of communism.
As a kid, I wondered how the Russian people put up with it, knowing that their own government was sending its citizens to this vast and dangerous country, putting their lives at risk, killing and being killed, for no apparent reason. I recall feeling proud to live a country where the government would not do such a thing. Such naivete.
Today, we mostly try not to think about this war, unless a friend or family member is directly affected by it.
For this reason, it’s a great thing that Netflix’s 100-million subscribers have the opportunity to watch War Machine, a Netflix exclusive written and directed by David Michôd, and starring Brad Pitt, Anthony Hayes, John Magaro, and Emory Cohen. It is being advertised as a comedy but the reason is unclear. It is not particularly funny, unless you find humor in watching confused human failures unfold under impossible conditions.
It is based on the true story of General Stanley McChrystal, a forgotten figure today but briefly in the news in 2010. A story in Rolling Stone revealed the drunken aimlessness of the forces under his one year of command in Afghanistan. The story was a personal humiliation for him and he retired to teach classes at Yale University and run his own business consulting firm.

I haven't seen the flick, but the blog post does a good job going over it.

War is a racket, and the war on terror is a sick, venal, psychopathic enterprise.

i know one reason uncle shmuel's military is occupying afghanistan. opium.
when the soviets withdrew from afghanistan the taliban stepped into power and under their rule had eliminated the opium poppy fields almost entirely. oops, can't have that! how is the CIA supposed to fund their mr. sneaky man evil black projects without opium money? solution: invade! uncle shmuel will build an oil pipeline running straight thru afghan. oh and in the process, reinstate the opium production, which happened almost immediately. as a consequence heroin/opium addiction in the US and europe has increased literally exponentially.
oh but don't simply take the mighty wak's word for it, after all he is just another dumb-ass conspiracy theorist, (banned from commenting at many sites such as rawstory, infowars, etc - i guess his views are just too wacky),
here is actual photographic proof::

Smack helps LEO, criminal? lawyers, private prisons, prison guard unions, suppliers to prisons, bail bonds women, and others in the criminal justice complex.

Other corporate welfare queens and kings include Blackstone and a long list in the military/security complex.

Tne war economy can't end anytime soon - simply because of the negative effect on the Amazon/general economy.

The "criminal justice complex" - that's beautiful.

I recommend everyone read "Programmed to Kill" by Dave McGowan (free online) for a chilling view of this system and how closely it interlocks with the military industrial intelligence nexus.

COMEY ADMITS RUSSIA DID NOT ALTER A SINGLE us VOTE

oh hey, there's a real shock! but that doesn't really matter because russia is still the latest bad guys du jour and trump is the worst president ever because he probably thought about colluding with russia to hack the election.

oh here we go:

Philadelphia Mob Boss Offers To Kill Terrorists “I’ll kill them and then hang them in front of their houses”

Says the solution to terrorism in the US is to just start killing all the terrorists, not tracking and monitoring them.

“It’s gotta be done. It’s gotta be done now.” Natale states on killing terrorists in the US.

I've always been suspicious of Comey's honesty and his increasingly prominent role on the U.S. political stage.

A man who has served on the boards of Lockheed Martin and HSBC before taking the helm at FBI Headquarters isn't a likely candidate for the role of crusader for truth and justice. What if he's play-acting as part of a deeper script aimed at fomenting the military confrontation that hardliners in *both* nations have long been clamoring for?

Furthermore, I think that whether or not there was direct interference with the election and whether there are increasingly compromising (or simply increasingly visible) ties between the Russian and American Empires are separate issues.

I also must wonder about the role of Russian / Chinese / North Korean Intelligence in global parapolitics.

There is for example considerable evidence that "something" happened to Oswald - possibly during two still-unexplained hospitalizations. How is this consistent with the abundance of evidence showing how he was controlled / manipulated by U.S. intelligence agencies virtually from cradle to grave? It doesn't unless you fully reinterpret your beliefs regarding the "east versus west" construct.

Another interesting fact in this regard is that in addition to the support of the Americans, Israelis and the British, the Mujahideen were also receiving arms from the Russians and Chinese. This is public knowledge and forces one to consider whether the *true* purpose of Brzezinski's policy was entirely as stated - or were they "thinking ahead" more than most of us would prefer to imagine?
